I was skeptical of purchasing the Worx WG304.1 18 inch electric chainsaw because the price point said “cheap, Chinese, low quality”. I purchased it from Amazon 11/21/2019 for $68.02. I wanted a chainsaw to cut logs for turning and was considering an 18″ Stihl which depending on model run from $350 to $450. Not wanting to lay out that much cash I took a chance on the Worx. I figured if junk, then not much money lost.

It came nicely packaged with a good instruction manual. It is a nice looking chainsaw saw and comes with a chain guard. A foot long power cord means an extension cord is require and given the 15 amp draw best to get a 12 AWG cord.

Features include:
  • 15 amp motor
  • 18″ bar
  • auto tension for chain
  • automatic chain oiler
  • low kick back bar and chain brake
  • weight about 11 pounds
  • 3 year warranty

That is a nice feature set and a 3 year warranty for a Chinese made chainsaw is remarkable.

John Weaver trying the Worx 18″

Performance is surprising. It has a lot of guts and cuts through logs pretty fast. So far it has exceeded expectations with no issues. This is a viable option for cutting logs for turning.

Even with the bar buried to the hilt, it kept cutting

John Weaver tried it and said “The saw was very surprising in its power”. It stopped once because the 15 amp breaker tripped which indicates best to use a 20 amp circuit.
